Hi! I’m Dawn Mathews, the founder and owner of The Thankful Goat. I live on a micro-farm in North Carolina with my husband Steve and our two sons, Isaac and Dorian.
I’m a homeschool mom, soap and bath products making, back-to-nature kind of girl.
It all started with a mistake. We had just gotten our first goat Athena, when she ate some laurel leaves. Since these are toxic to goats, we had to give her a shot that rendered her milk undrinkable.
So a friend told me to make soap, and that’s where it all began. I made my first batch in the fall of 2009 and haven’t looked back.
We’ve even been featured in Mother Earth News: The Thankful Goat: A Micro-Farm Flourishes (with Recipe).
